A small car park provides direct access to this beautiful surf beach located in Rye on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula. There are no officially marked car parking bays but there would be room for an estimated 20 cars – noting that the track into the car park can be a bit rough at times . . .
This area is part of the stunning ‘Mornington Peninsula National Park’ which runs all the way along the Bass Strait coast from Cape Schanck to ‘Point Nepean National Park‘. Pristine beaches and beautiful landscapes can be found here. The ‘Number Sixteen Car Park’ provides direct access, via a beautiful trail leading across the dunes, to the beach below. Another track marks the start of the historic ‘Life Saving Track‘ that meanders its way north-westward, through the dunes, for some 9 km or so, to Sorrento. Incidentally, the name ‘Number Sixteen’ comes from the fact that this location was Access Track No. 16 of the sixteen tracks that formed this Life Saving trail . . .
