Vehicular access to the Avon River in Stratford, Victoria is via various rough dirt tracks which open up to expansive river bed areas consisting of stacks of river pebbles. The Avon River, when not in flood, varies from a trickle rippling over the rock beds, to large deep swimming holes. At times the river narrows producing relatively strong currents to negotiate. Depending on the seasons, suitable vehicles could travel some distance along the river bed, traversing the shallows of the river thereby accessing wonderful, discrete swimming and fishing holes . . .
4WD vehicles would be the most suitable vehicle with which to access to the wonderful clear waters of the Avon River – whilst enjoying the challenge of negotiating the piles of river rock . . .
