Defence Road stretches from the entrance into the beautiful Point Nepean National Park, some 5.4 km in a westerly direction, to the very tip of the Mornington Peninsula, where one can view the notorious and infamous Corsair Rock and ‘The Rip’ – across to Point Lonsdale, Queenscliff, the Bellarine Peninsula, and, along the surf coast towards Cape Otway.

Expect to see the most amazing and panoramic views; many, many historical points of interest; signage that is as informative as it is fascinating. The many trails that diverge from Defence Road will reveal: shipwreck sites, historic cemeteries, jetties, quarantine facilities dating back to the 1850’s, and then there is the extensive military infrastructure that was built over a period of some 70 years, being abandoned at the end of World War II . . .
