Commencing from the Harry Clues Memorial Park located on the banks of the Tambo River on Clues Road – just out of the township of Johnsonville, follow the well maintained dirt road which hugs the banks of the Tambo River until the mouth of the river at Lake King is revealed. Lake King forms part of the Gippsland Lakes system.
The gravel road is just under 4 km return – perfect to walk, ride or drive . . .
The views of the river, the river flats, picturesque farms, the mountains in the distance are just beautiful . . . as one nears the mouth of the Tambo River the portrait sets off to the huge expanse of the blue waters of Lake King.
There are many spots to access the river along the way – perfect for fishing – why not try our luck at catching some Bream ? – for which the river is renowned . . . Apparently the most successful fishing is, amongst the snags . . .
The trail is an easy gradient the entire way – consisting of well maintained gravel and bitumen surfaces . . .
