Marlay Point overlooks the enormous Lake Wellington. Walking along the foreshore or through the acres of reserves that surround Marlay Point will delight in everything from expansive water views across the lake, to fields of grass and bush.
In fact, the birdlife is breathtaking – and they do not seem too perturbed by humans. Observe them amongst the rushes, sleeping on old logs, feasting on fish, gliding the thermals, dancing over the lawns catching insects, skimming effortlessly across the water . . .
In many ways it feels more like they are watching us, with a childlike curiosity . . .
The area is surrounded by large reserves – protecting the habitat of our wonderful bird-life. Heading back to Marlay Point, a delightful picnic area abuts the sandy beach.
Facilities include picnic tables, pavilion, public toilets, ample parking, boat ramp, jetty and fish cleaning facilities.
Swim, walk along the beach or through the reserves, fish, watch the pelicans feast, kayak, sail, boating, jet ski, water ski, wind surf, kite surf, bird watching or just relax and enjoy the tranquility. For those with fully self contained RV’s, camping on the water’s edge is a treat !!
