Joining the trail at Pialba bestows the opportunity to head towards Gatakers Bay on Point Vernon – some 6Â km each way, or, heading in the opposite direction, to the ‘Urangan Boat Harbour’ – some 8 km each way . . .
There are, of course, numerous entry / exit points along the way – all is totally dependent upon your preference.
As one nears Tooan Tooan Creek, a distinctive sound draws your attention above.  Hanging from the trees are countless Flying Foxes – absolutely fascinating to watch and witness at such close range.  Taking a detour across the road to ‘Apex Park’ provides interesting signage regarding these remarkable creatures, as well as bestowing beautifully maintained picnic facilities and park areas that abut the mangroves lining the Tooan Tooan Creek.
A little further along the trail, in a westward direction, an absolutely delightful wet park for the children is revealed. Â This facility is coupled with boardwalks winding their way around, capturing the views of Hervey Bay whilst leading to a variety of eateries, shopping, and seating under the shelter of the mature trees.
The trail is an easy gradient the entire way, consisting of well maintained paved surfaces. The trail, for the most part, is separated from the road.
