Anglican services began in the area of what was to become the township of Stratford, as early as 1845, when the Reverend EG Pryce held a service at W.O. Raymond’s Stratford Station.
Three years later, the Reverend Francis Hales conducted a service “in the newly opened Shakespeare Hotel” during the morning of Sunday, 28th May 1848.
The Holy Trinity Church, Stratford, was opened almost twenty years later, on the 2nd September, 1868.
Stratford became a separate parish in 1877 with the arrival of the Reverend William Green as the first resident minister.
The historical building directly next door presents with a stone laid by Mrs. J Mills of Powercourt, on the 22nd September 1910 . . .
