Located approximately 1 km west of the Rye Pier, the ‘Whitecliffs’ lookout platform is some 9.8 m above sea level and yet delivers the most beautiful and panoramic views across Port Phillip Bay.
Not only are the view outstanding, but following the trail down in an easterly direction, a reconstructed Lime Kiln is nestled in the cliff side as well as some picnic tables – this sport also marks the commencement of the 12.4 km Bay Trail, that follows the foreshore all the way to Dromana.
Wandering across to the beach, the cliff face that houses the lookout bestows the most amazing rock formations – from the golden yellow of the sandstone to the pure white of the limestone that is so characteristic of this area . . .
