View Rosebud West’s Statistics & Demographics
The petite seaside village of Rosebud West lies on the shores of Port Phillip Bay on the Mornington Peninsula. The foreshore is quite densely vegetated with large, mature trees under which the seasonal and year ’round camping facilities lie – and also, through which the Bay Trail meanders. The sandy beaches stretch way out into the bay providing a relatively safe haven for children to splash in the shallows. Swans and pelicans are amongst the many sea birds that frequent this area – the long beaches providing kilometres of sand on which to walk. A foreshore shopping strip provides most of your needs and there are plenty of eateries from which to choose.
Much of the town is sign-posted ‘Capel Sound’, a name change that is apparently encouraged by the locals. The following map could assist in determining the origin of this name:
In this map of 1858, ‘Capel Sound’ appears to be the stretch of water between ‘Toortgoorruck’ and Mt Martha . . .
Clean, tidy and welcoming – Rosebud West is perfect for a day out on the beach, or, a holiday on the foreshore of the beautiful Port Phillip Bay.

In order to maintain the free community services, POI Australia provides an opportunity for businesses to support their town and region by advertising for a nominal annual fee. The business listings are designed to be very quick and easy to complete, providing links to existing websites, Facebook, etc., so that time-poor business owners can quickly add and maintain their listings. We hope that the low charges will encourage business to “spread the word”.
The more we network, the more successful we will be in promoting Australia’s locations, stories, histories, businesses, people, sustainability and the environment.
Working together, we can protect our Country, our Environment and our Communities . . .
