The ‘West Car Park’ is the largest of the four situate in the Portsea Surf Life Saving Club (SLSC) precinct of Portsea’s ‘Back Beach‘ on the Mornington Peninsula.
Overlooking the vast Bass Strait, there are in excess of 210 car parking bays at this location. A relatively steep pathway of some 170 m in length, which includes a number of steps, takes you down 32.5 m drop to the ocean. Alternatively, you can take the ramp from the ‘Middle Car Park‘ to the beach via the Portsea Surf Life Saving Club (SLSC), as walkways link each of the car parks together.
Opposite the beach access track is an overland trail, the ‘Farnsworth Track’, that leads to ‘London Bridge‘ just over 1 km away, however, just 200 m along this trail from the car park is a look out which delivers 360º panoramas of this stunning part of the world. Expect views stretching from Bass Strait, along the peninsula, and across Port Phillip Bay . . .
One can also access ‘London Bridge’ via the beach. Make sure you allow plenty of time to enjoy this region, as it is absolutely stunning !!!
