‘Sunset Cove’ is located on Newlands Arm, which is a large inlet that branches off Lake Victoria – just west of Paynesville.
Lake Victoria, in turn, is one of the larger lakes that forms the massive Gippsland lakes and river system, covering some 400 sq km !!! The waters of Gippsland’s lakes and rivers are extraordinary for those who enjoy all manner of boating activities.
Picnic tables are located on the shores of ‘Sunset Cove’ which is a delightful, sheltered, sandy beach – the perfect spot to swim, kayak, wind surf, sunbath, read a book or just relax – and all within walking distance to the town centre . . .
The backdrop of the treed escarpment set against the tranquil waters and white sands is breathtaking. Park amenities located at the beach include barbeques, picnic tables, drinking water, rubbish bins and a playground for the children.
A bike / walking track extending some 2 km on along the foreshore, bestows sensational and varied views across the lake whilst surrounded by beautiful, and diverse vegetation . . .
