Located on the western flank of the Princes Highway, at the Victorian / New South Wales Border, some 14.5 km north of the township of Genoa, a one lane digression of some 150 m in length on the southern side of the border, marks the approach of a new State of Australia, New South Wales . . .

The rest stop provides an opportunity to halt on the side of the road, and capture the delineation separating the states of Victoria and New South Wales – to absorb and contemplate how the states of Australia came into being . . . and, to question why Victoria’s border with New South Wales appears to be literally, ‘in the middle of nowhere’ . . .

Set in dense forest some 117 m above sea level – lined with stunning spotted gums, this rest area provides ample parking together with some picnic tables.
